DS125DF1610: DS125DF1610 for 10G SFI

Part Number: DS125DF1610
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS160PR410, DS100KR401, DS100KR800

We use DS125DF1610 for 10G SFI .

Data flow is:

SoC -> 3 inches FR4 -> High Speed Connector-> 10 inches FR4 trace in backplane->High Speed Connector-> 5 inches trace-> DS125DF1610 -> 5 inches trace -> SFP+ connector.

|————————————————————SFI—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————|

Is it OK?

If we want to use 10GBase-KR, data flow like this:

SoC -> 3 inches FR4 -> High Speed Connector-> 10 inches FR4 trace in backplane->High Speed Connector-> 5 inches trace-> DS125DF1610 -> 5 inches trace -> SFP+ connector.

|————————————————————10GBase-KR——————————————————————————————|                        |————SFI——————————|

Is it OK?

  • Greetings,

    This depends on your FR4 trace and connectors frequency response. DS125DF1610 can compensate for up to about 31dB loss at nyquist. You can use DS125DF1610 IBIS-AMI model plus s-parameters of your pcb and connectors to analyze signal integrity for your application.

    Also please note DS125DF1610 is a limiting device and does not allow high speed signalling to go through the device. For 10GBase- KR please consider DS100KR401 or DS100KR800. Another option would be to consider DS160PR410 as well.

    Please use IBIS-AMI model plus s-parameter for your model to analyze signal integrity for your application.

    Regards,, Nasser

  • Does TI has tools like WEBBENCH DESIGNERS for simulating DS125DF1610?

  • WEBENCH is no longer supported for device simulations.
