TPD4E05U06DQAEVM: NC pads - trace routing

Part Number: TPD4E05U06DQAEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPD4E05U06

In point 10.2.1 of https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tpd4e05u06.pdf (page 24) Figure 24 shows layout example for HDMi routing when parallel paths are connected to NC pads of the device. I am working on Ethernet traces however this should not matter. Is it allowed to connect parallel paths to NC pads of the ESD device? On Page 4 the description for NC is the following: "Not connected; Used for optional straight-through routing. Can be left floating or grounded". So it looks like it is ok, however i am not too sure. Would this cause some problems with data flow? Cheers.

  • Hi Krzys,

    Welcome to E2E!

The NC pins of the TPD4E05U06 are not internally connected so these pins can be used for straight through routing for any signal traces(HDMI and Ethernet). It is allowed to connect parallel paths to NC pads of the ESD device. Please refer to the layout example in the datasheet for more details.

    Best regards,
