TPD6S300A: If the device is not powered

Hi Support team,

My customer has a question regarding this part. They are using it to MUX two sets of CC lines. I know this is not its purpose, but tthey are doing just that..

Here’s the question: When power is removed from VPWR, the FETs connecting the CC lines are off (correct?). Are the body diodes still seen between CCx and C_CCx? From the block diagram (below) it looks like there is only ONE series MOSFET between these pins. So it looks like when the FETs are off, the body diode will be present as shown. Can you confirm?

Can you explain why they are wanting to use the TPD6S300A as a MUX? Why are there two sets of CC lines?

Hi Adam

As I understand it there are three devices in the system, pc, accessory and then device. Device plugs into accessory that is connected to pc, in some cases accessory connected to pc, in other device thru accessory connects to the pc.

Do you have a block diagram or something that you could share with me? Don;t think i understand there system

As far as using the device to mux CC lines, it cannot be done. You are correct that there is only one series MOSFET
