DP83869HM: operating in the RGMII-SGMII bridge mode

Part Number: DP83869HM
When operating in the RGMII-SGMII bridge mode,
No register setting from MDIO IF (No external microcomputer control).
Is there any problem if I move only with Strap Configuration?
Use the Strap Configuration to set the following modes:.
RGMII - SGMII Bridge Mode
Auto-negotiation, 1000/100/10 advertised, Auto MDI-X
  • Hello,

You can refer to our application mode on different modes for Bridge Mode. You should be able to configure using only OPMODE straps.

  • Thank you for an answer.
I understand that when operating in RGMII-to-SGMII Bridge mode, setting the strap terminal (OPMODE _ 0/OPMODE _ 1/OPMODE _ 2/MIRROR _ EN) does not require register setting via the MDIO interface.
    When used in SGMII-to-Copper (10 Base-Te/100 Base-TX/1000 Base-T) mode, will it work without register setting via the MDIO interface if the strap terminal (OPMODE _ 0/OPMODE _ 1/OPMODE _ 2/ANEG _ DIS/ANEGSEL _ 0/ANEGSEL _ 1/MIRROR _ EN) is set?
By the way, in SGMII-to-Copper (10 Base-Te/100 Base-TX/1000 Base-T) mode, I want to set it to "Auto-negotiation, 1000/100 advertised, Auto MDI-X", but in the data sheet and the application note [SNLA 318], the description of ANEGSEL _ 0 and ANEGSEL _ 1 is reversed.
    Which is correct?
  • SGMII to Copper can also be done through strap configuration.

The application note may have a typo. I suggest following the specifications and strap considerations on the datasheet, but I will need to confirm.

    Thanks,

    Cecilia
