DP83822HF: Is DP83822HF can be configured to an end device only for receiving when using FX-mode

Part Number: DP83822HF

Hi all, I'm using DP83822HF in FX-MODE for one-direction data transmission, just for receiving.

I wander can I disconnect TD_P and TD_M pin and pull-up to 3.3V , and saving a fiber.

*The device will receive only UDP message.

*FX-mode have been strapped by hardware, which can be checked OK form register 0x0A.

*Signal detect pin have been pull-up to 3.3V with a 2k resister.

*Auto-nego is disabled.

*I have test 100M-TX mode, when I disconnect TD_P or TD_M, the link status will turn down, and link status led also turn off.

My  question: Is this scheme can be realized for a single-direction transmision.  If CAN, how can I config the relate register. If NOT, why?

Thank you.

  • Hi YAN,

Can you please share your reason for wanting to only use the PHY in a receiving mode for application?

In FX Mode after you have strapped, was the device working as you expected or does there look to be a link status down in fiber too?

Forcing the signal detect to be pulled high will not actually use the pin correctly since it will always show that a signal is detected. This set up is not a typical design that we have validated for so I will need to confirm.

    Thanks,

    Cecilia
