SN65DP141: Can SN65DP141 be used in both source device and sink device

Hi,

In our customer requirement we are using ZU7EV SOM and we have to use Dispaly port as input. I have used SN65DP141 IC when display port was used as output. So can I use the same IC for designing display port as input.

Hi,

Yes, you can use the SN65DP141 for the DP sink side application. Please place the SN65DP141 closer to the sink device and use the SN65DP141 RX equalizer to compensate the loss between the DP connector and the SN65DP141.

Hi,

Can you please share a reference schematics where DP is used as input. Also could you please suggest any equalizer part number. I need DP to support UHD/4K 60 FPS

HI,

Unfortunately, I do not have a reference schematic for the DP141 on the sink side. But you could use Fig 19 in the TDP142 datasheet as a starting guide, I can also review the schematic once it is finished.

The equalizer is already inside the DP141, there is no need for external equalizer.

Hi,

As per the datasheet the display port supports version of 1.3. Is the IC backward compatible with DP version 1.2.
