TUSB8044A: Using USB 2.0 and USB3.0 downstream port simultaneously

Part Number: TUSB8044A

Hi  team

We are using TUSB8044A  hub in one  of  our  application can we  use  USB 2.0 and USB3.0  connection  form different downstream port  simultaneously ?

Does  data rate  of  one  port  will be  limited  by  data rate available on another  port ?

  • Hi Abhishek,

USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 connections are simultaneous and separate within the hub.  The buses are run on entirely different signals within the system and there is no translation between the two.  A USB 3.0 device or host connected with a USB 2.0 cable will drop to USB 2.0 signalling as part of backward compatibility.

  • Also, data rate on one hub port will not affect data rates on the other.  You can have low speed (mouse) and super speed (USB 3.1 flash) connected at the same time.
