[FAQ] How to setup Total Phase PD Analyzer to monitor PD traffic?

If you are testing USB PD product, capturing USB PD messages is essential. How do you use Total Phase PD Analyzer to capture the PD messages?

    Download Total Phase Data Center Software:

    1. Create a Total Phase account: https://www.totalphase.com/customer/account/create/
    2. Download Data Center Software from this site: https://www.totalphase.com/products/data-center/

    Setup and Run PD Analyzer Software:

    1. Plug the Analyzer into the computer
    2. Unzip the file and double click on the application, you don't have to install it.
    3. When the application GUI opens, it has the default window view.
    4. You can change the view by clicking the "View" button for example:
      1. click "Block View" to add the block description view
      2. click the "Details" to remove the default detail view
      3. Recommend to add "Block view" and "Current/Voltage Monitor" views
    5. Adjust window size as needed.
    6. Hit the "Run Capture" button to start capturing the PD trace.

    Saving PD Log:

    1. Hit the "Stop Capture" button to end the run process.
    2. Click the Save icon to save the log, give a name and keep the .tdc extension.
