TPS65987EVM: No Port X Settings tab in Application Config Tool

Part Number: TPS65987EVM

Hi

I am trying to import settings from EVM into Application Configuration tool.

I setup project according to manual, Standard template and  DFP. But the Application Config tool does not end up looking like in the manual. There's no Nr of Devices selection in the Device Initialization Chain, just Device 1.  I also don't get any Port X Settings tabs, just Port settings. ANd when I try to import there are no selections for Devices or Ports to import settings into, just Global Device Settings Tab and SharedDevices Tab, and when I import to those, I don't see any difference.

Please Advice!

  • And if I instead of Standard or Advanced when setting up New Project select TIDA-050012 Source Board, then I get a Device 1 tab and can select Device 1 Port 1 when importing, but then an Exception occurs.

Exception Encountered during Import From Device:list index out of range

    <type 'exceptions.IndexError'>

    Traceback (most recent call last):

    File "dialogWindow.pyc", line 7699, in import_config

IndexError: list index out of range

  • Hello,

I've assigned this issue to the relevant expert who will get back to you shortly

  • Thomas,

Here are the answers to your questions:

    1. "No Number of Devices selection in the Device Initialization Chain". This is because the template selected was the Standard template. Having additional connected devices is considered an Advanced feature, so this is limited using the Standard (recommended) template.
    2. "I don't get Port X Settings tabs". This is because the device selected was the TPS65987DDH which is a single port device. In the manual, the device selected for the screenshots was the TPS65988DH which is a dual port device.
    3. "When i import to those, I don't see any difference". In this case they are the same. Since the number of connected devices is 1 (in the Standard template), the global device settings are shared across all (1) devices.

  • Thomas,

This is indeed a bug in the tool, caused when settings are not shared between devices. This only occurs when the "Share Settings Across All Devices" is unchecked and the user selects a Device + Port option instead of Global or Shared Settings in the Import Configuration from Device menu. You can avoid this entirely by using the Standard or Advanced templates.

This bug will be fixed in the next release of the tool, 6.1.2.

    Robert Almendarez
