Part Number: TPS65987EVM

Hello everyone,

I will like to know how to not send the VDM message with the configuration tools  ?

I put the EVM board in DRP mode , and I plug à UFP device . Below you will found the message send :

Thank you in advance for your help

  • Hi David,

Are you referring to VDM message with SOP_PRIME?

If so, this is how the PD device communicating to the cable.

Whoever is providing VCONN can communicate to the cable, if you don't want then let the end partner/device provide VCONN.

    Regards,

    Peter

this is not possible because the device is in dead battery state.

I'm asking you this question because I use my smartphone and I didn't get any VDM message.

there is no configuration thinks to do to don't send this message ?

and for my curiosity where we configure the vdm message ?

    best regards

    David

  • Hi David,

In Port Configuration (0x28) VCONN Supported field, change it to VCONN not supported (disabled)?

VDM message is part of PD policy.

    Regards,

    Peter

  • HI Peter,

I tried this but nothing change I still get the VDM message !!.

I understand the VDM is part of PD policy, but  I tried different product managing the PD type usb-c, and no one send this message.

    Best regards .

  • Hi David,

When powering up, whoever is the source it will also be VCONN provider initially. Do you see this message at the very beginning?

Do you see voltage on VCONN even after disabling the VCONN?

Can you send me your project file, PD log and scope capture of CC1, 2 and VBUS?

We need to know who is providing VCONN, just out of curiosity have you tried VCONN_SWAP?

    Regards,

    Peter
