TUSB422: USB type c Accessory should be in Power Source & Data Device Mode

Hi,

We would like to use TUSB422 in our board.

Our application is to communicate with android smartphone by being device and source the power to smart phone to charge it.

I have seen the TUSB422 is support data role & power role swap functionality so can we use this chip ?

Is there any drivers we need to write to use this chipset to do role reversal or just i2c register writing do our job ?

We would like to keep our accessory continuously in device mode and charge the smartphone.

Please provide your response asap.

Hi Paresh,

TUSB422 needs an external MCU to communicate over I2C. Some example firmware can be found on ti.com at the link below. FYI, this product has very little software support.TUSB422 can support the application as described but you should note that TUSB422 does not support all PD 3.0 messages, please see datasheet for more information.

Can you please share flow chart or step to do accessory as device and power as source to phone charge using Inc.

We have already MCU on board to provide the command to TUSB422.
