Question regarding the recent preview of the Ethernet-APL / SPE (10Base-T1L) PHY. I'm curious if this phy could be used for Multi-Protocol Industrial Communications, as exemplified in TIDEP0032, which uses a more traditional ethernet PHY (TLK110) and PRU-ICSS on Sitara. Can DP83TD510E "swapped in" in place of TLK110? The ability to support multiple Industrial Ethernet protocols on a single device, and have the device detect the correct protocol and adjust accordingly is appealing.
Put another way: I am curious if the same type of Multi-Protocol Industrial Communications detection can be implemented using a 10Base-T1L phy such as the DP83TD510E. Can the same Sitara SoC's be connected to the DP83TD510E to enable this type of concept?
I recognize that various protocol specs like EtherNet/IP have not yet been updated to support 10Base-T1L, but those updates should be released early in 2021, and we would like to be ready to act.
Thanks.
