DS250DF230: I2C address question and pinstrap tolerance

Part Number: DS250DF230

Hi all,

Our customer is using DS250DF230 but has few questions below:

1.The ADDR1 & ADDR0 is set properly and the address should be read as 0x30.(ADDR1=>0 & ADDR0=>0).

And they do observe the address of 0x30 on the interface but do not respond to any command.

Then they try the 0x19 address and it working.

it there any possibility they enter into a 7-bit mode? if yes, which part should we check and we can back to the 8-bit pin strapped function?

2.what is the tolerance of the pin strapped resistance?

Could you provide the voltage range of each address? is the resistor up to 5% accuracy still can be work?

Thank you for your help.

  • Hi, see my inputs below.

    1. The addressing format (7-bit versus 8-bit) is determined by software. The retimer itself does not reconfigure itself. If the host software uses 7-bit addressing the retimer responds to the 7-bit address corresponding to its ADDR pin settings. if the host uses 8-bit addressing the retimer responds to the 8-bit address corresponding to its ADDR pin configuration

    2. The resistor tolerance should be at least 5%. I don't expect this resistor value tolerance to be the source of issue.
