TUSB9261: Does this device support IOS devices?

Part Number: TUSB9261

Hi

My customer is having problem using USB 3.0 while connecting with IOS devices, and they are thinking about replace their current solution, and I want to know if the TUSB9261 supports USB 3.0 for IOS devices.

Thank you

  • Yes, since TUSB9261 is enumerated as a USB compliant Mass Storage device, any operating system supporting USB Mass Storage should properly enumerate the TUSB9261 (That includes Windows, Linux, Android, iOS, MacOS, etc). this driver is not controlled/provided by TI. What is the issue being seen?

  • Hi Malik

    Thank you for answering!

The customer want to use an IOS device to control their product in real time(it's like creating an app and use the app to control and receive feedback from their product by using an IOS device), and is considering using our device.

I noticed that you said the TUSB9261 is enumerated as a USB Mass Storage device, but does it support IOS device for real time communication like a peripheral device? Can they use our device to fit their design?

Sorry if the question is not detailed enough to give you enough information... I'm new to USB protocol. If you need more information to answer the question, please let me know.

    Thanks

    David

  • Hi David,

For the information you have given, I do not believe TUSB9261 (using default FW)  is the right fit. The FW of this device is designed to primarily used by bulk transfers for large data transfers as opposed to isochronous transfers that are needed for the kind of real time application you describe. Also does this application need USB to SATA conversion? It does not sound like it.
