DS90UB927QEVM: BIST mode testing and registers for verifying FPD-link connection

Part Number: DS90UB927QEVM

Hi,

A customer is currently testing the cable between the serializer and deserializer(927EVM and 926EVM) and as such wanted to confirm some understanding about BIST mode and the registers.

In BIST mode, the serializer sends all zero pattern and as such the screen connected to the derserializer shouldn't display anything, is this correct?

Is the pass pin only active during BST? This is not active during pattern generator test and rather keeps the results from the previous BST test?

For validation of transmission through FPD-Link, would it best to look at pass in realtime or would seeing whether the LED stays on or off to be enough for the forward channel?

Lastly for registers, I see there are two CRC register (CRC erros and BIST BC error). Would the BIST BC error be the only one in interest for validation of connection.

Thanks in advance and best regards,

  • Hello Alexis,

Yes on 926, the PASS pin is only active when the BIST test is used. During the test there will be no display pass through since the BIST transmitter is sending all zeros. For monitoring BIST results it would be best to look at the PASS pin in real time to see if there are any drops during the test which indicate an error, or to do all the monitoring through the 926 registers. BIST BC error is the only one which is updated during BIST to log BC errors

    Best Regards,

    Casey
