TUSB212: TUSB211 and TUSB212 comparison

Part Number: TUSB212
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB211

Hi team,

My customer found high speed fail of the usb2. But it can pass when whey remove TS3USB30ERSWR mux.

The trace length just 8421 mil (Spec. 17800 mil).

 D+: 8419.48 mil

D-: 8421.22 mil

Now, I recommend customer to add redriver. however, I have some questions about our solution as below.

1. According to eye pattern result, TUSB211 would be suitable for customer or TUSB212? Why?

2. should I place redriver close to connector or USB host?

3. For TUSB212 in I2C mode, What is the result if AC_BOOST HW setting is level 2 then I set 0x01 to level 0 by I2C?

Best regards,

Hardy

  • Hi Hardy,

    1. Either TUSB211 or TUSB212 can be used here. TUSB212 had better redriving capability than TUSB211 with added DC Boost.
    2. Redriver should be placed close to the USB connector.
    3. When TUSB212 is I2C mode the register settings take a higher priority that the pin strap setting.  In this case Level 0 AC_Boost would be used.
