With this driver we are attempting to drive an IGBT 4 to 5000 w or 250volts and up to 25 amps.

We checked ucc 5310 or if you have a better suggestion for the best driver.

If you have a recommendation for hall sensors that would be suitable for this unit

Hi Anton,

The UCC5310M and UCC5350M can both drive this IGBT but there are things to consider.

What will be the driving voltage for this gate driver? Switching frequency and duty cycle will affect power dissipation. Will your design use bipolar supplies? Gate resistors are recommended due to the low internal gate resistance of this IGBT.

The device with the higher peak current, UCC5350M will be able to provide the required gate charge to turn on the IGBT faster than gate drivers with lower peak current, UCC5310M. The designers must decide on the required rise and fall times in order to select a part.

We will use the small 12 volt battery.
Is it possible to use optical sensors as an off and on trigger?
The frequency will not be higher then 250hrc.
