SN65MLVD200A: Max voltage on pin A/B

Part Number: SN65MLVD200A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65MLVD202A

Hi team,

My customer is using SN65MLVD200A, and they found that in their system bus, the chip's A/B pin will connect 5V power supply with a 4.7kohm pull-up resistor.

In datasheet, the max condition is 4V for A/B pin. But since it's only a weak pull-up, could the chip work normally in such condition?

If RE/DE pin is set to make the chip disabled, could it help the chip survive in such condition?

Thank you!

  • All pins need to operate within the absolute maximum ratings in the datasheet. 5V is too high and even greater than the supply voltage. It will put device into undetermined state and possible damage the device. Can customer replace it with SN65MLVD202A?
