Can the exposed pad be connected to ground or does it need to be floating.  Why isn’t this information in the datasheet?

    Hi Dan,

    Yes, no issues in connecting the thermal pad to ground. The pad is present to aid in thermal conduction and is not used electrically. I've noticed that a lot of older datasheets don't have this information, and unfortunately it leads to a lot of questions like this. We are being more careful of this for new datasheets, though, and if this one goes through another revision we will be sure to add this in.
