TPS25820: No current advertisement is taken place

Part Number: TPS25820
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25821

Hi,

Since a while I have been looking for the most simplest PD CC controller IC. I found the TPS25820 PN and I though it was the best choice for the design. We were facing a sort of PowerBank design, with the TPS25820 as CC controller.

For an early testing phase, we introduce a 5.1K resistor attached to CC line in order to simulate a Sink device. The design worked fine, the TPS25820 was sourcing the 5V to the Type C connector. Untill here everything worked just fine.

The issue is that after the resistor is removed, no matter which PD compilant system is attached to the design, that the TPS25820 is not sourcing the 5V.

We have checked if there were an error in the USB type C layout, but we found nothing, seems that everything is Ok. My team has spent a week testing the design, and we came to the conclusion that the TPS25820 is not working properly.

We are testing the design against a PD compilant mobilephone and different powerbanks, but the TPS25820 is not sourcing the 5V.

Is there any issue with the TPS25820? Do you think that if we relaple the TPS25820 for the TPS25821, the system might work?

Need some support in this matter. Best Regards,

Juanjo
