TPD2E007: What is the output voltage of "IO1" and "IO2" when TPD2E007 is protectiong a surge?

Part Number: TPD2E007
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ESDS312

 Hello guys,

One of my customers is using TPD2E007 for their current products to protect RS485 tranceiver device (SN65HVD485ED). But in spite of usingTPD2E007,  SN65HVD485ED was broken rarely.

The cusomer want to get some answers from TI to the following questions.

Q1.  What is the output voltage of "IO1" and "IO2" when TPD2E007 is protectiong a surge?. For example, ESDS312 datasheet

        http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/slvseg9b/slvseg9b.pdf

has "Surge Current, Clamping Voltage and Power Curve" graph as Figure 3. According to this graph, we can know that ESDS312 IO1/2 output voltage during surge protection is about 7V.

        But TPD2E007 datasheet

        http://www.ti.com/jp/lit/ds/symlink/tpd2e007.pdf

        doesn't have such graph.

Do you have similar graph with Figure 3 in ESDS312 datasheet for TPD2E007?

If the answer is no, what is the output voltage of "IO1" and "IO2" when TPD2E007 is protectiong a surge?

Is it about 14V because the device datasheet says 13V as the maximum operate voltage?

Or is it about 36V (170W/4.75A) according to Figure 7, Surge Pulse waveform graph?

Q2. Do you think the failure rate of SN65HVD485ED is reduced if TPD2E007 is replaced with ESDS312?

Q3. The customer doesn't want to change their board layout. If ESDS312 is soldered on TPD2E007 foot pattern,

ESDS312 NC pins are left open because the pin count of TPD2E007 is 3.

the case of the condition above, is ESDS312 surge protection perforemance not changed from original one?

Your reply would be much appreciated.

 Best regards,

 Kazuya Nakai.
