TCAN330: multiple TCAN330 connection

Hi,

I have a question when using TCAN330. When I use multiple TCAN330, their CANH and CANL connect respectively, as the attachment picture. My question is, when part2 and part are not powered or there is large leakage at CANH/CANL prorts of part2 or part3,maybe both of them, but part1 is powered with 3.3V, what does this impact part1's wave form of CANH/CANL?

Hi John,

Leakage on the CAN lines tends to affect the recessive state (which is weakly biased by each receiver) much more than the dominant state (which is strongly driven by an active transmitter). So, in this case you would likely see normal dominant voltage levels but recessive levels that are lower than normal. This will make the CAN signaling appear asymmetrical, although in most cases communication would continue to work (since the differential voltage levels sensed by a CAN receiver would still be correct).
