P82B96: Design guide to confirm to meet I2C specification

Part Number: P82B96

Hi Experts,

By using P82B96, SCL and SDA are delayed. These signals are also delayed by using long cable. The customer needs to evaluate if their system satisfies I2C specification. Do you have any design guide how to evaluate it?

  • Hello Hisao-san,

"Do you have any design guide how to evaluate it?"

We do not have any guides on something like this.

How long is your cable distance?

For I2C specifications, I assume the most important specs would be:

    • Rise time
    • Set up time
    • Clock High/Low minimum duration
    • Data line always changes AFTER a falling clock edge
    • Start condition timing is met
    • Stop condition timing is met
    • non-cable buses should be less than 400pF (standard mode and fast mode)
