TPD3S014-Q1: About Output discharge

Part Number: TPD3S014-Q1

Hi team,

For EN = Low of TPD3S-14-Q1, if the OUT pin is connected to other 5V source, the output discharge function will sink the current from the external 5V, and the power will be dissipated as below.

-. I = 5V / 300ohm = 16mA, P = 5^2 / 300 = 0.08W. Is it correct?

-. If the sink current will keep continuously, they need to care about thermal performance. In addition to thermal, is there any other items to have to check?

Thanks,

Sam Lee

  • Hi Sam,

Yes, When IN pin voltage below UVLO and EN disable the discharge function will active.

But the discharge will lost the bias when the IN voltage decrease.

If you keep VIN above UVLO, EN disable and put 5V in OUT pin,  the discharge will keep on.

So,you need to care about the thermal. Beside this you need to tare care the OUT pin voltage not exceed the ABS max rating.
