Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83825
Hi Expert,
My customer want to configure DP83825I LED_2 for speed indication. Currently, they have our DP83825I EVM on hand and they want to know what registers they need to change? Thanks!

Hi Jimmy,
The following registers can be used to configure LED_2 to indicate the speed of the established link:
0x0305=0x0001 //configure LED_2 pin
0x0460=0x0555 //configure LED_2 to indicate Speed (0x0555 = Speed, High for 100BASE-TX 0x0565 = Speed, High for 10BASE-T)
0x0469=0x0000 //toggle LED_2 from active high to active low if needed (bit 6 is the bit I am setting in the register)

Justin
Hi Expert,
Thanks for your info here. One more question, how to configure DP83825I work in 100M mode? They find that DP83825I can work in 10M mode. However, it can not work in 100M mode with 0x0000 REG as 0x0021 and 0x0010 REG is 0x2C04.
Do you have example script for DP83825 woking in 100MHz and LED0/LED1 woking?
Thanks!
Hi Jimmy,
Do you want to configure the DP83825 to work with 100M speeds through auto-negotiation or force the device into 100M speed?
Auto-negotiation can be enabled through 0x0000=0x1100
100M Speed can be forced by 0x0000=0x2100

Justin
Hi Justin,
Thanks for your info. Customer find that they can not make it linked to 100MHz mode. For EVM set-up, they only connect RJ45 and USB port. And they keep RMII unconnected. From your viewpoint, it it OK for set-up like this? Thanks!
Jimmy
Hi Jimmy,
Yes, that is a valid setup to establish link over the MDI. Can you describe what the link partner is and what mode it's operating in?
Regards,
Justin
Hi Justin,
I just want to confirm with yout that leaving RMII unconnected is correct set-up for 100MHz evaluation. Link parter is a machine woking in 10MHz/100MHz auto-negotiation mode.
At the same time, can you share standard script for DP83825I evaluation? Thanks!
Jimmy
Hi Jimmy,
If you are evaluating the DP83825's ability to link and communicate with a link partner over the MDI interface, you can leave the RMII interface unconnected. The DP83825 does not need to connect to a MAC in order to establish link over the MDI.
There is no script needed to initialize the DP83825 to enable link-up.

Justin
