DP83869HM: DP83869HM for 1000 BASE-X – 10/100/1000 BASE-T media-converter

Good day colleagues,

My customer asked me a few questions. could you help to answer?

1) Customer is interested in fiber to copper media converter for 1000 BASE-X – 10/100/1000 BASE-T. Is it possible to support these modes? If yes, how to do it correctly? Or the DP83869HM supports only 1000 BASE-X – 1000 BASE-T and 100 BASE-FX – 100 BASE-TX?

2) Could you explain what is "Managed mode" regarding media converter? there is no much explanation about it in the datasheet.

    Hi Mikhail,

    1. The latter is correct. The DP83869HM only supports 1000Base-X to 1000Base-T and 100Base-FX to 100BASE-TX.
    2. Managed mode means that additional register writes are needed along with the straps in order to set the device into media converter mode. In the media converter section, it is stated that bit[0] of register 0x01EC needs to be set to 0. This is the additional register write.
