TUSB9261: TUSB9261 without SPI Flash

Part Number: TUSB9261

I am Designing a carrier board for an SOM

I need Usb 3.0 to Sata Brigde Embedded.

TUSB9261

Is the SPI Flash and Jtag Connector Nessesary?

Can I design TUSB9261 without SPI Flash and Jtag Header.

Will it work?

  • Hi,

TUSB9261 does require a external SPI flash to load the application FW at power-on reset. JTAG is not needed for normal operation. It will be useful to have test points on the UART TX and RX pins for bring-up/debug.

  • So to run TUSB9261 the SPI flash would required firmware, and the Flash Burner is only available for Windows.

If I want to embed  TUSB9261  in a board connected to CPU's USB, is there any way It could run in Linux?

  • We do have a old tool I can share however wo do not currently support this tool. It has also been reported that it does not compile on recent versions of Linux due to deprecated dependencies. If you are very familiar with Linux you may be able to modify and get it working on your platform but I will not be able to provide help here.

Otherwise I suggest creating a complete FW image though the flashburner tool using a windows machine. Using this tool you can read beck the complete contents of the SPI flash then externally program your onboard SPI flash so that TUSB9261 may load the FW correctly.
