TLIN1027-Q1: We wanted to test TLIN1027DRQ1 Kline in our board

Part Number: TLIN1027-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65HVDA195-Q1

Dear Team,

We wanted to test TLIN1027DRQ1 Kline in our board.

Please let us know how you have tested Kline in the EVK, Whose stack is used for validating the protocol.

Does TLIN1027DRQ1 supports Lline protocol?

Regards,

Puneeth S Kumar

  • Puneeth,

No internal testing has been done to validate the protocol on our transceivers. Because the TLIN1027-Q1 does not have dominant timeout, limiting the amount of time the LIN pin can stay in the dominant state, it is compatible with K-Line systems. It is not compliant with the K-Line standard, this is the same with L-Line as well. One of the main reasons for the inability to be compliant is the integrated termination on the TLIN1027-Q1. The K-Line specification calls for 100k, but the integrated termination on the TLIN1027-Q1 is 45k.

Again though, the TLIN1027-Q1 can be used in both K-Line and L-Line systems, but care has to be taken around the system-level design.

  • Dear Eric,

Thanks for the support & reply.

Please share us the recommended system level design for Kline & Lline.

Please let us know other Ti IC which supports Kline & Lline.

    Thanks

  • Puneeth,

Unfortunately we don't have recommended system-level designs available for K-Line and L-Line, but this is good knowledge so that we can add it to our collateral development.

SN65HVDA195-Q1 will also work for K-Line, but again, this is because the lack of dominant timeout feature.

    Regards,

    Eric Hackett
