DS90UB960-Q1: EVM- Interface with ECU having CSI2 camera

Hello TI team,

By default a CSI2 camera sensor will be connected to the ECU. Sensor Spec and CSI2 spec has been given below.

Camera sensor:imx327lqr-c

1920*1080 Resolution, Progressive scanning

RAW 10 Image format

30 fps

CSI2 Spec:-

CSI2 V1.3- Raw10,

Four Lanes,

1162.5Mbps per lane,

111.375 MHz CLK

I would like to replace this camera and source the images at 30fps from my industrial PC. My industrial PC comes with 953 Serialiser and has Fakra connector. I am planning to use 960Q1-EVM as deserialiser.

1. Can 960Q1 replace the camera with aforementioned spec ?

2. Do i need to connect the supply voltage from ECU (3.3V) to 960Q1 deserialiser. ?

3. Any additional circuit for PoC to be done ?

4. Do i need to consider any signals apart from the Pin Mapping shown below ?

Hello,

1. Yes, the 960 can support the specs you provided however the CSI-2 Transmitters operates at 400 Mbps, 800 Mbps, 1.2 Gbps or 1.6 Gbps per data lane.

2. It depends on how want to power the EVM, the 960 EVM comes with a barrel connector and typically runs off of 12 volts.

3. If PoC is required it ussually draws from VFEEDx which is usually powered by the 12 volts from the barrel jack. You will need to see if it is necessary?

4. The signals you provided should be all you need however the 960 also has LOCK and PASS status pins GPIOs and an interupt pin.

Do we need to make separate driver for in the ECU to read the data from 960Q1 ?

As we are matching the signal spec with the the real camera at 960Q1, the existing driver is fine ?

Hello,

This is a hard one to answer, if the driver is compatible with the CSI-2 timing requirements listed in the datasheet then it should be fine. However, if the driver can't work with the CSI rates the 960 is capable of then you may need to make changes.
