DP83869HM: in half duplex mode

Hi,

How can I program DP83869HM so that it supports half-duplex mode. I looked in data sheet and Fx_STS register 0x0C01 default is 0x6149 after reset. And it should support half-duplex but I was not able to get it work.

My ethernet cards are programmed to half duplex mode, 100Mbps.

Also, during half-duplex mode, is there a GPIO pin or any output pin on DP83869EVM board telling direction of the signal as well. Thanks

Hi,

Can you check that reg 0x0000 bit 8 is set to 0? The default is 1, which is full-duplex.

0x0000 is set to 0x1140 so bit8 is 0. If I change to 1, will it switch to half duplex mode? Also is there a gpio output or something to signal whether PHY is in TX or RX mode? Direction of signal flow?

Yes, and you can check reg 0x11 bit 13 to verify that it worked. As long as LED0:2 are not strapped into a state that forces full duplex, the bit change should be all you need.

You could look at the values of pins 37 and 38 for rx and tx information! I would need to review the EVM user's guide to find if/where the pins are connected to.
