TCA7408: INT pin is always low.

Part Number: TCA7408

Hi,

In our device, we are using TCA7408 for getting some interrupts. After all the configuration, the INT pin always remains low irrespective of the inputs.

I have configure to read only one port by masking the other ports but still the INT pin is low. The interrupt status register reads the correct value corresponding to the interrupt. But the pin is never de-asserted.

Please help us understand the issue.

Thank you,

Bharath

  • Hey Bharath,

Do you have a pull up resistor tied to the INT pin? This is necessary as the output is open drain and without the pull up resistor, the pin could look like it's latched to GND.

Are you able to post a picture of the schematic? I want to double check and see there is nothing wrong with the set up. Providing any devices connected to the GPIO may help us here.

Can you also provide me with what data is in register 03h, 09h, 0Bh, 0Dh, 11h, and 13h.

    Thanks,
    -Bobby
  • Hi Bobby,

    Thanks for the reply.

We solved our issue by reading the Device ID register  at the power up of the device.

    Thanks

    Bharath
