We have the following queries:

Clarification regarding the procedure mentioned in document SLLA351.The document mentions.

“The first read register is the most positive POST CURSOR 1 setting. With every read the POST CURSOR 1 parameter is decreased to the next lower value, ending with the most negative after 32 reads.”Does the first value read from register 0x9012 correspond to TWPOST1 bit pattern 01111, and the subsequent values correspond to 01110 to 00000 and then from 10000 to 11111?

Pl confirm the corresponding TWPOST1 bit pattern order in which the BER values are returned.

When we tried to read the BER value from 0x9012 continuously, the value obtained was only 0xFFFF. What does this mean?

Hi,
Your understanding of 0X9012 is correct.
The first read from 0x9012 should correspond to TWPOST1 bit pattern 01111 and decrease to 00000 with subsequent reads, and then go from 10000 to 11111.

If you are getting 0xFFFF in 0x9012, it is very likely that the device is getting massive error during link training phase.
