TPS65982: Higher power consumption than specification

When I confirmed the power consumption of each power mode, I got the measurement result as follows;

ACTIVE mode = 5.94mA (Spec = 5.64mA

IDEL mode = 2.82mA (Spec = 1.66mA

SLEEP mode = 0.37mA (Spec = 0.058mA)

The below is the condition of measurement.

- Installed file = TPS65982_HD3SS460_DRP_Host_Full_2_15.tpl

- EVM

Power consumption is the current flowing to System_3V3 from DC power supply

Why is my measurement current higher than the specification?

Please teach me the correct measurement method and condition.

Hello Tamio,

When measuring this on the EVM it will be difficult to get results matching that of the datasheet. The EVM has the Winbond flash chip being powered by the LDO_3V3 coming out of the TPS65982 which will consume additional current.
However, It appears to me that you are measuring the current correctly with the board modifications you have made.

By the way, TPS65982 has 4 output power supply as shown the following figure.

If IC is in SLEEP mode, which of them except LDO3V3 is disabled? And also, is ADC disabled?

Hi Tamio,

In Sleep state, the power output paths remain on. Also, any GPIOs that are being driven will remain in their current state while the device is in Sleep state. The ADC also remains on.
