HD3SS3220: The HD3SS3220 seems can't be switch.

Part Number: HD3SS3220

Hi Sir

  1. we use Type-C positive inserted  (Tx1/RX1), Type-C speed is USB 3.0 (100MB),

measure HD3SS3220I  CC1voltage is 0.42V, CC2voltage is 4.75V

  1. reverse inserted (Tx2/Rx2) Type-C speed just  have USB 2.0(36MB),

measured HD3SS3220I  CC1voltage is 4.75V, CC2voltage is 0.42V

we can find CC1 and CC2 have changed depend on cable flippable, but reversed inserted data speed just USB 2.0, we fill Mux seems have no switched,

May you have advise us how can we check if IC work or not, or how can we debug it?

  • Hello,

This may be a layout issue. You can confirm whether the switch is working by measuring the resistance in the switch for both cases (i.e. verify that when in orientation one TXP is connected to TXP1 and disconnected to TXP2. Meanwhile, for orientation 2 TXP is connected to XT2P and disconnected to TXP1). Also, verify that the status of the DIR pin matches with the cable orientation.

    Regards,

    Diego.

  • PX501C_v01_USB3 Type-C.pdfHi Diego

Our CCI pin measure voltage is 0.4V and another pin is 4.77V. when we reserved connector. the voltage also have change.

but strange is our DIR pin always hight(3.242V).Vbus_det is 0.47V.

May you pls advise us what point we can check?

  • Hi,

Are you connecting a DFP or UFP device to the connector?

If you are connecting a DFP and HD3SS3220 is acting as UFP, please check ID pin signal for level. I have noticed in the schematic that ID is connected to a different 3p3V supply (+V3p3A) that the other signals (+V3p3S). Schematic also states that USB2_ID is internally pulled high in Kabylake please ensure that this does not interfere.

    Best regards
    Cevin
  • Hi

thanks for your reply, the issue solve that customer Vbus get power first due to circuit issue.
