TPS2553: fault pin doesn't pull low just after short circuit happen

Part Number: TPS2553

Hello,

My customer is using the same circuit as in data sheet figure 27, auto retry functionality.

 - What they expect: when short circuit happen, fault pin will pull low after 7.5ms and disable the IC.

 - What they have measured in actual circuit:

In below waveform, channel 2(blue) is fault pin, channel 1(yellow) is output.

When short circuit happens(output pulled to 0) , the fault pin doesn't go low. Instead, it delays about several hundred milliseconds and then goes to low.

It seems the fault won't pull low until IC's thermal protection happens.

Is this normal function of TPS2553? Is there any other suggested load switch if customer want to achieve what they expect?

Best regards,

Victor
