TUSB7320EVM: TUSB7320EVM / EEPROM on EVM

Part Number: TUSB7320EVM

Hi,

Please let me ask about EEPROM on TUSB7320EVM. I know that TUSB7320 is now NRND but the customer has EVM and plan to evaluate it.

  1. Does this EEPROM has any information, for example default value or something?
  2. How can they change the information in this EEPROM?

Best Regards,

Satoshi / Japan Ditsy

  • Satoshi-san,

EEPROM is only needed if they are willing to customize some of the default device configurations. Check the datasheet at table 4, section 7.4.1.3, for additional details on the configurations that can be changed through the EEPROM.

EEPROM can be programmed using an external EEPROM programmer before it is placed on the board; however if they need no customizations, no EEPROM is needed and default values will be automatically loaded on the device.

    Regards,
    Jorge
  • Hi Jorge,

Now they are willing to customize configurations but the EEPROM, 24LC01 from Microchip is already mounted on EVM. So I'd like to know how to program this mounted EEPROM.

    Best Regards,
    Satoshi
  • Hi Jorge,

I guess the purpose of this EEPROM as below. Is my understanding correct?

    • The default setting is programmed in this EEPROM
    • The purpose of this EEPROM is to test to load setting from EEPROM

    Best Regards,

    Satoshi

  • Satoshi-san,

The EEPROM will not load the default configuration. Default configuration is internally loaded by the device even when there is no EEPROM.

Purpose of the EEPROM is to modify the default configuration (i.e. load a customized configuration), in case it is needed.

You should be able to evaluate the device without programming/changing the EEPROM

    Regards,
    Jorge
  • Hi Jorge,

    Let me ask again.

    1. Does TUSB7320 EVM have external EEPROM? Attached is schematic from user's guide.
    2. How to program this external EEPROM?

    Best Regards,

  • Hi Jorge,

Sorry for asking when you are busy but I'm waiting for your comment.

    Best Regards,
    Satoshi
  • Satoshi-san,

My apologies for the delay on this response.

The TUSB7320 EVM board has a placeholder for the EEPROM, but it isn't populated.
You can program the EEPROM using any EEPROM programming tool or I2C master before placing the EEPROM on the board; we do not provide tools that can help with that.

    Regards,
    Jorge
