ISO1042: ICC2 current consumption

Part Number: ISO1042

Hi,

Could you please let me know about ICC2 consumption. Datasheet show as below:

- TXD = 0 V,    bus dominant, RL = 60 Ω: 73.4 mA(MAX)
- TXD= VCC1, bus recessive, RL = 60 Ω: 4.1 mA(MAX)

In common use case, some nodes connect to CAN Bus line and one of then is active. I guess the node which is Active consume 73.4mA as Maximum. But how much current other nodes which aren't active consume? Should user consider the consumption as 4.1mA? or should he consider it as 73.4mA even if the nodes aren't active?

I would like to select power supply requirement for ICC2.

Regards,
Nagata.

  • Hi Nagata-san,

    Thanks for reaching out.
When a CAN node is connected to CAN bus, its current consumption ICC2 is dependent on the CAN transceiver used and the state of the CAN node (DOMINANT, RECESSIVE or SLEEP). If the CAN transceiver used is ISO1042, then it has only two states. i.e., DOMINANT and RECESSIVE and the current consumption of this node is as stated in the datasheet and as also you pointed out.

When the nodes are not actively transmitting data, they are expected to be in RECESSIVE mode and hence the current ICC2 is expected to be 4.1mA max. I hope this answers your question, thanks.
