ISO1452: Low speed operation

Part Number: ISO1452
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO1412, ISO1450

Can the ISO1452 operate at lower RS485 speeds, like 500 kbps? Any performance concerns with it operating in a 500 kbps system?

We are looking at using it as an alternate to the ISO1412 due to availability issues.

  • Hi Mark,

Thank you for reaching out to us!

ISO1452 can operate at 500kbps. There is no performance concern using ISO1450 at 500kbps.

ISO1452 has slightly higher power consumption than ISO1412, 588mW vs.  556mW.

ISO1452 also has faster rise time and fall time than ISO1412.

ISO1452 has shorter propagation delay than ISO1412.

Faster rise and fall time may cause higher reflection but given that the operating data rate is 500kbps, this is not a concern.

A shorter propagation delay might violate the hold time requirement. Please check the timing requirement of your design.

    Regards,

    Alfred
