SN6501: Reference design_TIDA-00555

Part Number: SN6501

Dear Sir,

Reference design use 3 isolated power supply for current sensing, but only 1 isolated power supply used for voltage sensing.

Transformer Driver SN6501DBVR max supply current: 350 mA Transformer ratio: (4-6):(1-3): 1.64:2 max output current: 287 mA Isolated AMP max current: 5.4 mA * 6 = 32.4 mA

Is it possible use 1 isolated supply for all 6 isolate AMP?

 Regards,

  • Hi Bard,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Please note that the input power supply for SN6501 is taken from the MCU/ADC side and then is isolated to power the sensing side of isolated amplifiers. Since the 3 isolated amplifiers for voltage sensing have the same isolated GND (named GND-PH), same isolated supply from SN6501 (U10) can be shared among all three AMC devices (U11, U12, U14). But the 3 isolated amplifiers (U1, U3, U5) for current sensing have different isolated GNDs (GND_USH, GNDVSH, GND_WSH), three different isolated supplies are generated using 3 SN6501 devices (U2, U4, U6). The design already seems to be optimized where each SN6501 is generated two outputs, +5V and -5V. Thanks.
