SN6505B: Timings between Vin & Vout

Part Number: SN6505B
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN6505D-Q1,

Hello,

Taking forward to below thread,

https://e2e.ti.com/support/isolation-group/isolation/f/isolation-forum/1037687/sn6505b-driving-2-transformers-from-single-ic

I am getting timing of 67mS between Vin to  & Vout as per below graphs captured. But as per datasheet, this timing should be near to 18 mS max. Is there any timing details available when driving two transformers from same IC ?

Or How I can reduce this time ?

Regards,

Praful

  • Hi Praful,

Thank you for posting to E2E! Tssdelay is measured from when the EN pin of SN6505 goes HIGH to when the isolated transformer output goes HIGH. This might not align with when the power pin on the transformer is powered, so please confirm the delay timing with respect to EN pin of SN6505.

We do not specify timing details for isolated power supplies that use one IC to drive two transformers, but we expect that the power up delay would be much shorter if our SN6505D-Q1 device is used instead of SN6505B since it is the same device without soft start circuitry. Below is a datasheet clipping of spec comparisons:

Please ensure the EN pin of SN6505 is turned HIGH as early as possible to reduce the power on delay time and feel free to use SN6505D-Q1 instead (pin-to-pin and transformer compatible with SN6505B) to further reduce the delay and bypass the soft-start time.

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Thank you,
    Manuel Chavez
