SN6505A-Q1: IS SN6505 OPERATION FROM 6.5V EXTENSION POSSIBLE?

Hello:

It would appear that the operation of SN6505A up to 6.5 V would be very beneficial.

Its max is 7V

So could this be used safely up to 6.5v max...in reality, seems most will have 6.25v to convert to some isolated lower floating voltages. 

If this cannot be specified, is there a similar SOT23-5 pin device that can?

    Thank you for posting to E2E! SN6505 devices, including SN6505A-Q1, are not capable of withstanding operation with Vcc = >6V for any amount of time, and we do not currently have a standalone push-pull isolation transformer driver that can meet that need.

    If 6.5V is necessary at the isolated output, the input "Vcc" node for SN6505 and the transformer can be reduced to 5V with a series LDO and then increased to 6.5V with a transformer of appropriate turns ratio as shown in the block diagram below:



    Otherwise, a design like the one in the schematic below or in PMP30440 can be followed to isolate a >5V power supply while reducing the voltage at SN6505 Vcc and D1/D2 pins to safe levels with additional external components. LDO 2 would be optional:
