ISO7731-Q1: Enable voltage treshold

Part Number: ISO7731-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO7731

In the application I'm working on, I would like to enable the digital isolator using a soft start (RC) pin the controller on the primary side. For this I would be interested in the enable voltage threshold of the digital isolator. According to the datasheet, the input voltage treshold are at 0.6 x Vin typical. Is this also applicable for the enable pin? Or only for the regulator input channel pins?

Thank you!

  • Hi Geert,

    Thanks for reaching out.

The input threshold table that you are referring to in the datasheet is applicable for all input pins including EN pins. Hence, you can consider 0.6*VCCx (typical) as the answer for EN pin as well.

I would also like to point out that these are logic input pins where the valid input signals are mostly going to be close to 0V (LOW) or 3.3V/5V (HIGH). Hence, the input thresholds are going to be a little relaxed (some variation) to keep the design simple. If your application needs the threshold to not have such variation then I recommend you to use a comparator separately. If such variation of input threshold is not a concern then you can go ahead and use RC directly with ISO7731. Thanks.
