SN6505D-Q1: No parts in stock - is it still produced?

Part Number: SN6505D-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN6505B, SN6501, SN6507

Hello there,

Is the SN6505B/D still recommended for new designs? We have been trying to order it for more than a year and a half without success.
Is there any (ideally pin-compatible) alternative with a delivery time of less than a year for "normal people" and research?

I understand that there is a shortage of parts but after 1 1/2 years of chip shortage, still a delivery time of a year and no option to order the part at TI? Come on...

Best regards,
Matthias

  • Hi Matthias,

Thank you for posting, and welcome to E2E!  Due to large demand of devices across products, many products are currently out of stock and have been for a while. We are still producing all SN6505 devices, and we recommend you subscribe to be notified once the device comes back in stock by clicking on the "Notify me when available" button under the "Ordering & quality" tab at the link below:

On this E2E forum, there are only technical engineers who are capable to assist user with any technical support. We do not have any insight into parts ordering systems or related logistics. The best team to assist you with ordering related and other non-technical issues would be the Customer Support Center. I have provided a link below where you can raise a ticket regarding the issue you are facing and they will be able to assist you best.

If you are looking for a push-pull isolation transformer driver, we also have SN6507 prototype samples available, and SN6501 devices could be an option for you as well. Please let me know if you would like assistance in understanding compatibility of these devices with your design, and if you have any further questions.

    Respectfully,
    Manuel Chavez

  • Dear Manuel,

Thank you for your detailed reply. We have been trying to order the SN6501 as well, without success and we also set up the notification more than 1 year ago. I saw the SN6507 just yesterday - thanks for the hint, however, we cannot retrofit it into existing PCB designs but would need new PCBs because it is not pin-compatible.

The Mornsun SCM1201A and SCM1201B are also somewhat similar, but not fully pin-compatible. It seems like SCM1212B would be pin-compatible to the TI SN6501 - but I also can't seem to find it anywhere...

If only someone could build another semiconductor factory to produce these parts so critical for the energy and mobility transition... ;)

    Best regards,
    Matthias
