SN6505A-Q1: High inrush current during start-up

Part Number: SN6505A-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN6505A

Hi team,

My customer use our SN6505A transformer driver. They found there is high inrush current from VCC during power-up. Please refer to the below waveforms. I also find there is a voltage overshoot in secondary voltage. But this device has soft-start feature to prevent this problem. Could you please help to analyze the causes? Thanks.

BlUE: VCC VOLTAGE 4.65V

GREEN: SECONDARY VOLTAGE 15V

RED: VCC CURRENT

YELLOW: D2 VO LTAGE

  • Hi Iris,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Could you please share the schematic showing components values?
Could you please also share a higher resolution image of waveform that you have attached? It is currently low in resolution and not everything is clearly readable.
Can you please also confirm where exactly in the schematic is the current measured? Is it measured just before the transformer or at a point much before in the PCB?
