ISO1042-Q1: Common mode Choke Selection for CAN BUS

Part Number: ISO1042-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO1042

Hello,

Currently I'm working on ISO1042 isolated CAN driver. Can any one support or share the detail to select the Common mode choke?

\How to choose an inductance value?

What other factored need to be considered?

Can you please share any application notes with respect to the same.

With regards,

Sivaram Thota

  • Hi Sivaram,

    Thanks for reaching out.

The inductance of the common mode choke that you select will be dependent on the frequency of the common mode noise that needs to be filtered. For CAN, I recommend using a common mode choke with an inductance of around 100 µH. Common mode chokes with these inductance values are typically used for CAN, and will filter out noise frequencies that are typically observed on a CAN Bus. For a specific component recommendation with these characteristics, I recommend using the ACT45B-101-2P-TL003.

    Regards,
