ISOW7741: GND1 / GNDIO connection

Part Number: ISOW7741

Hi,

we are currently drawing a schematic that includes the ISOW7741.

We are not quite sure how best to connect GND1 and GNDIO.

In the data sheet of the ISOW7741, according to '12.2 Layout Example' on page 53, there is an Ferrite bead between GND1 and GNDIO.

According to the Application Biref "How to Meet CISPR 32 Radiated Emissions Limits With ISOW7741" and the EVM board, however, GND1 should be connected directly to GNDIO.

Can you explain which is the better variant?

Thank you.

  • Hi Zita,

Thank you for reaching out and sorry about the different recommendations in datasheet and application brief.

For typical device operation, either approaches are fine and the device shouldn't have any issues in operation. But if the intent is also to make sure the radiated emissions remain low and to meet your end-equipment emissions standard, then following all guidelines from the Application Brief that focuses on radiated emissions optimization are recommended.

Hence, my suggestion is to follow the Application Brief for the most optimum results. Thanks.
