Hi!
I plan to parallel 2X ISOW7741 on the VISO_OUT pin. I would like to power an additional 6-channel isolator ISO6760FQDWRQ1 using the paralleled configuration. Is there any concern if this is done? Do you have any specific recommendations to parallel them?
Thanks
Hi Deepak,
Thanks for reaching out.
Power supply outputs of multiple power supplies cannot be directly connected together to support higher output current, unless a power supply specifically supports such a feature that allows connection of multiple supplies together.
The DC/DC converter in ISOW7741 doesn't allow parallel connection of multiple VISOOUT pins, hence, they cannot be connected together. ISOW7721 has extra pins on device to allow this Leader / Follower feature and hence, allows parallel connection of VISOOUT pins. Please refer to the below snapshot from ISOW7721 datasheet that shows how to parallel connect multiple devices.
Please make sure all the guidelines mentioned in section 9.3.4 are followed to achieve parallel connection.
The combined VISOOUT output can be used to power any loads including one or more ISO6760 devices. This shouldn't be an issues. Let me know if you have any other questions, thanks.
