SN6507-Q1: SN6501-Q1

Part Number: SN6507-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN6501-Q1, SN6501, SN6507

Hi,

Good Day.

Is it possible to use the component SN6507-Q1 as equivalent to the not available SN6501-Q1 in order to drive a transformer 1:1 at 12V for an isolated supply?

Please advise. Thank you very much.

Best Regards,

Ray Vincent

  • Hi Ray,

    Thanks for reaching out.

SN6501 doesn't support 12V input directly but an LDO at the input can be used to bring that down and still power device while getting an isolated 12V. Not sure if this is what customer is doing right now but SN6507 will be able to support 12V to 12V isolated supply with a suitable transformer without any issues. Since the two parts are not pin-compatible, customer would have redesign the board.

While designing with SN6507, please make sure customer goes through the design guidelines from datasheet for choosing various components associated with SN6507 based design. Let me know if there are any other questions, thanks.
