ISO35T: Recommendations to use ISO3086TDWR as drop-in alternate

Part Number: ISO35T
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ISO3086T

Looking into using ISO3086TDWR to replace ISO35TDWR as a drop-in replacement to cover a shortage in supply.

I looked at the comparisons (link below) and we should be ok, but there are differences in the datasheet (especially in the Driver/Receiver specs and the propagation delay charts) that I need guidance with.

Could you please help check if this a true drop-in replacement? Do you have any recommendations on checks to perform?

  • Hello Filiberto,

You are correct that the ISO35T is the only option as a replacement with the same pinout as the ISO3086T.

As you have noticed, they aren't exactly the same. Some things to compare would be the proper operating voltage range. 3086T must be 5V on VCC2, whereas 35T must be 3.3V on VCC2. So this may cause an issue with the acceptable supply ranges being different. That is probably the biggest thing to look out for here.

3086T can support a higher data rate, and as you noticed there are some differences here and there on the driver characteristics.

    Best,

    Michael
