ISOUSB211: How to isolate power around USB

Part Number: ISOUSB211
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN6505A

Hi,

Are there any products that can isolate  the power supply around USB such as USB isolators?
For example, an isolated DCDC or an element like a pulse transformer often used for LAN.

I would like to isolate between the following
"INPUT: 5V 1A - OUTPUT: 5V 800mA".

Due to GND potential difference between devices. I am considering isolation as one method to reduce hum noise. If there is any other method, please suggest.

Thanks,

  • Hi Conor,

    Thanks for reaching out.

There are many isolated power supply solutions from TI that can isolate an input supply and generate desired output. SN650x is one such family of devices and SN6505A can take in 5V input and output 5V at 1A. The device also have EN pin to enable/disable the device as per the requirements.

Please refer to SN6505A datasheet for more details and to the below EVM for transformer, schematic and PCB layout details that support 1A output. Thanks.
